China has voiced concern over rising tensions in the Middle East and has been stepping up mediation efforts. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing will soon send Zhai Jun, special envoy of the Chinese government on the Middle East issue, to the region to help de-escalate tensions.
