TTT Live Online Tobago Entrepreneurs Get Business Upgrade

Small and micro-entrepreneurs in Tobago are better equipped to operate their businesses effectively through training offered by the Realisation for Economic Achievement (REACH) Unit.
Under the theme “Building Strong and Sustainable Micro-Enterprises,” the training included information on bookkeeping, financial management and marketing. On Wednesday, the closing ceremony for the initiative was held at the Division of Health’s Conference Room.
“Today we used the opportunity to also include a session about stress management and self-care. We also intentionally created space for networking because we know that sometimes the greatest resource is the person right next to you. This training is just one layer of support. With the collaboration of our technocrats and partners, we are committed to rolling out even more structured interventions to strengthen your enterprises.”
Secretary of Community Development and Social Protection Ian Pollard reminded the entrepreneurs and participants that discipline is important.
“In these fast changing economic times because most of us get into business and as we make the money something in the home come and jump up we have to use the finances or whatever revenue we make into the homes and if we dont have the discipline at the end of the day to put aside your 20 percent or your 25 percent of your day’s sales to reinvest into your business the statistics would stand true to form.”
The micro-entrepreneurs included former REACH Grant recipients, employees from the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) and Community-Based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme (CEPEP), as well as clients from the Division’s Social Support Unit, Programme for Adolescent Mothers (PAM) and the Roxborough Trade Centre.
