CNA Hong Kong looks for ways to better support its elderly
Hong Kong is ageing quickly. Almost a quarter of its more than 7.5 million residents are aged 65 and above. The number of seniors living alone in the city has also jumped by about 43 per cent in five years, raising concerns over loneliness and safety. Lawmakers and social workers are calling for support for this vulnerable community that goes beyond financial aid, with a greater focus on care and safety for seniors living alone.
