US northeast digs out after historic snowstorm that disrupted flights and schools, more snow looms

New York is attempting to return to normal after an epic winter storm dumped as much as 23.6 inches (60cm) of snow across parts of the city, leaving streets slushy and cars buried.
Commuters face difficult conditions, whilst tourists have seen their plans upended by the weather.
The worst damage occurred outside the city: Rhode Island recorded more than 90cm of snowfall, and Massachusetts is grappling with widespread power outages affecting hundreds of thousands of customers.
More snow is forecast for Wednesday.

Al Jazeera’s Kristen Saloomey reports from New York.
