News18 Urdu Sakina Itoo on TET for Teachers in J&K | No Order Issued by Government, Teacher Eligibility Test

The Minister for Education, Health and Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, has clarified the government’s position regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) issue. Speaking on the matter, the Minister stated that this is not the appropriate time to implement TET in the Union Territory. She said that the government will first review whether the policy is being implemented uniformly across the country and then decide how it can be introduced in the UT. She further added that, as of now, implementing TET is not mandatory, and the government will take a considered decision at an appropriate time. The Minister also stated that if other states or Union Territories have approached the Hon’ble Supreme Court to defend teachers, the government will follow a similar course of action if necessary.
