प्रयागराज पुलिस वाराणसी में है और शंकराचार्य अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद अपने आश्रम में मौजूद हैं. किसी भी वक्त अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद के आश्रम की जांच हो सकती है. पुलिस उनसे पूछताछ कर सकती है और अगर पुलिस को कुछ सबूत मिले तो अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद गिरफ्तार भी हो सकते हैं. शंकराचार्य पुलिस जांच में सहयोग की बात कर रहे हैं लेकिन उन्हे यूपी पुलिस की जांच में भरोसा नहीं है.
