Originating in China’s Hunan, Nvshu is a unique female script. It is a phonetic writing system created and used exclusively by women in ancient times. Recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, Nvshu is more than just a form of writing. Xu Yan, an intangible cultural heritage ambassador for Nvshu, writes the character for “horse” in the Nvshu script.
