Ilia Malinin hugged Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidorov to congratulate him on winning the gold medal.

“I watched him do his whole program while I was getting ready to perform, and I was just so happy for him,” Malinin said. “He really went out there with the Olympics at stake, and he just really pushed out all of there and did exactly what he needed to do, and I’m just so proud of him.
