Trump urges Iran to do 'two things' to avoid military action

US President Donald Trump has suggested a possible return to diplomacy with Iran, even as Washington ramps up its military presence in the region. He has urged Tehran to do “two things” to avoid military action — “no nuclear” and “stop killing protesters”. The Trump administration has deployed a naval armada in recent days, triggering international concern. Tehran, however, has not backed off from its threats to target American bases in the event of an attack. The EU has warned against further escalation, saying the Middle East does not need a new war.
