Education Minister Desmond Lee sets out what MOE is looking at next

Singapore’s Education Minister Desmond Lee said the ministry is looking at multiple areas “over the next year and beyond” — including stronger social mixing in schools, “education conversations” under the Forward Singapore umbrella on the “arms race” in high-stakes exams, and refreshes to CCE, CCA and the DSA pathway as part of holistic education.

In a wide-ranging interview with CNA, Mr Lee also outlined plans to smoothen the preschool-to-primary transition, refresh bilingualism efforts, roll out an AI education framework across mainstream schools, SPED schools and Institutes of Higher Learning, and ramp up SPED places.

He added that a comprehensive action review on bullying is underway, with recommendations to be shared in the second quarter of 2025, and said training allowance support under the Skills Future Level Up program will be extended from 1 Mar 2025 to those on long-term training who work part-time.
