CNA 5 welfare groups to take in Animal Lovers League’s animals; Commissioner of Charities opens inquiry

The animals from troubled charity group Animal Lovers League’s will be handed over to five other welfare groups. The group, which has about 160 cats and dogs housed at the Animal Lodge in Sungei Tengah, has until February to vacate the units. It lost the tenancy there last year, after owning 53 months of rent and following allegations of neglect. The Animal and Veterinary Service will provide a support package for the five shelters, which will include one year’s waiver of rental for all of Animal Lovers League’s units, supplies of food and prescription diets and preventatives, as well as a health screening exercise.
