CNA Plane crash in India’s Maharashtra kills key state leader Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar was killed in a plane crash on Wednesday (Jan 28) along with four others, India’s aviation regulator said.

In a tribute on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was “saddened” by the veteran politician’s death, calling him a “leader of the people”.

Local media reported that the aircraft attempted an emergency landing in Baramati. The cause of the crash is under investigation. https://cna.asia/3ZAQkjB
