Micron to create 1,600 jobs with S$30b Singapore chip plant

US memory chipmaker, Micron Technology, is set to create around 1,600 jobs in Singapore with a major expansion at its Woodlands site. The company is investing more than S$30 billion over the next decade in a new double-storey wafer fabrication facility, the first of its kind in the country. Production is expected to begin in the second half of 2028, supporting growing global demand for flash memory used in AI and data-centric applications. Ivy Chok reports.
