CNA India-EU Relations: Trade deal expected to double European exports to India by 2032
India and the European Union have reached an agreement on a trade pact that they are calling the ‘mother of all deals’, bringing two billion people together under a single market. Tariffs will be cut on nearly 97% of EU exports and 99.5% of Indian exports, in a deal that accounts for nearly a quarter of global GDP. The EU and India have been looking to diversify trade ties, given uncertainties posed in trade with the US and China. And it’s not just trade. Both sides also announced partnerships in areas such as maritime security, cyber threats and defence dialogue. Ishan Garg from New Delhi and Will Denselow from Brussels report.
