CNA NATO chief wishes ‘good luck’ to those who think Europe can defend itself without US

NATO chief Mark Rutte on Monday (Jan 26) insisted that Europe is incapable of defending itself without US military support. “If anyone thinks here … that the European Union or Europe as a whole can defend itself without the US, keep on dreaming,” he said.

Rutte also warned that European countries that wish to defend themselves alone would have to spend billions on building up nuclear capabilities. “In that scenario, you would lose the ultimate guarantor of our freedom, which is the US nuclear umbrella,” he said. “So, hey, good luck.” #nato #usnews #usa #europe #eunews
