Global NewsFerry in Philippines sinks with more than 350 people on board, at least 18 dead

A ferry with more than 350 people on board sank early Monday near an island in the southern Philippines, killing at least 18 people.
The accident occurred after midnight on Monday, when the passenger vessel MV Trisha Kerstin 3 was en route to Jolo in Sulu province, departing from Zamboanga.
“What I can say is the ship is not overloaded. It has a maximum passenger capacity of 350. And the actual passenger, the actual passengers on board, as declared by the master list, is 332,” said Philippine Coast Guard chief Ronnie Gavan.
Search-and-rescue operations are currently ongoing.
