An appeals trial begins on Monday for four people sentenced to prison for their involvement in the murder of teacher Samuel Paty in a Paris suburb in 2020. Prior to his murder, Paty had been the subject of an online campaign of intimidation and hatred over false accusations that he discriminated against Muslim students during a lesson on freedom of expression.
