Al Jazeera English Israel seizes historic Sebastia site in largest West Bank land grab since 1967

Israel has issued its largest archaeological site confiscation order in the occupied West Bank since 1967, seizing 1.8sq km in Sebastia. The Israeli Antiquities minister claims the land has Jewish heritage and plans to turn it into a national park, calling it “correcting injustice”. Palestinians say the privately owned land is part of Israel’s de-facto annexation of the West Bank and an attempt to reshape the narrative around their history. Sebastia, believed to be the burial site of John the Baptist, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited areas in the territory.
Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim reports from Sebastia, occupied West Bank.
