U.S. President Donald Trump launched his controversial “Board of Peace” on Thursday, an initiative initially aimed at supporting Gaza’s fragile ceasefire and which he said would work alongside the United Nations.

Trump, who will chair the board, invited dozens of world leaders to join, saying he wants it to address challenges beyond Gaza, raising concerns it could overlap with the UN’s role in global diplomacy.

Regional powers including Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, along with emerging nations such as Indonesia, have joined, while traditional Western allies, including Canada, were absent.
