CGTN We Talk: Brazilian economist says President Xi’s New Year message sketches development blueprint

Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered his 2026 New Year message through China Media Group and the internet on Wednesday, outlining a roadmap for the country’s modernization. Brazilian economist and international development expert Karin Costa Vazquez, told CGTN Stringer that the message serves as a blueprint for growth. What impressed her most is China’s 15th Five-Year Plan beginning 2026, placing greater emphasis on sustainable infrastructure, industrial development and technological progress. Vasquez also highlighted the strengthening role of domestic consumption in the Chinese economy. Looking ahead, she sees great potential for collaboration between Brazil and China.
