CNA Greater demand for PMETs in infocomm sector amid AI push

Teachers and software developers are among the most sought-after professionals, managers, executives and technicians (PMETs) this year. The Manpower Ministry’s latest data shows there’s also greater demand for them in sectors like financial and insurance services. Meanwhile, tech companies are creating new roles and seeking more employees with expertise in artificial intelligence governance and cybersecurity. Human resource consultants say demand for such hires has gone up by around 10% on-year. But they say finding the right talent is a challenge, even though these roles often fetch higher salaries than others in the sector. Natalie Ong reports.
