Reuters LIVE: Jane Birkin bag auctioned in Abu Dhabi

Sotheby’s holds first-ever auction week in Abu Dhabi, featuring luxury jewellery, watches, cars and real estate totalling $1 billion in value.

Items up for auction include a Birkin bag owned by Jane Birkin, expected to fetch between $240,000 – $440,000, Banksy’s shredded Girl Without Balloon, and masterworks by Magritte, Dali, Mondrian and Warhol.

It comes after the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund ADQ acquired a minority stake in the auction house last year.
