Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s erroneous remarks on China’s #Taiwan region are “turning the table on Japan’s terms of unconditional surrender back in 1945,” constituting a “much larger threat to peace and stability” in the Asia-Pacific, said Victor Gao, vice president of the Center for #China and Globalization, in an interview with CGTN.

Gao stressed that Japan’s threat to overturn its terms of unconditional surrender in 1945 is much broader and all-encompassing than the Taiwan question itself. He added, “Japan can turn the table again as far as the United States is concerned, or as far as Russia is concerned, or as far as Britain is concerned.”

Gao warned that Takaichi must not mislead the public or steer the Japanese people toward the abyss of war.
