A survey by CNA and the Institute of Policy Studies has revealed that nine in 10 Singapore residents feel a strong sense of a Singaporean identity. Dr Mathew Mathews, Principal Research Fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies Social Lab, explains why and how this sense of identity evolved.
