CNA G20 summit outcome renews commitment to multilateralism, says host South Africa
The final day of talks at the G20 summit in Johannesburg ended with a renewed commitment to multilateralism. This year’s chairman, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, hailed the outcome as a step towards uniting an increasingly fragmented world. The US, which boycotted the event, accused South Africa of weaponising the summit to undermine the group’s founding goals. This, after the host nation turned down a US offer to send a lower-level diplomat for the handover. Olly Barratt reports from Johannesburg.
