Romania sits along Europe’s eastern flank and borders war-torn Ukraine. And just last month, it made headlines.

News that Washington was pulling troops out of the country sent shivers down the spines of some allies, while others, like Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana Țsoiu, told TVP World she wasn’t celebrating the decision but respects it.

That means the stakes were high this week as NATO forces descended on Romania to train and prepare for a possible Russian attack.

Our correspondent Alex Cadier was at the site of the drills and is now back in Brussels, which hosts the NATO HQ.
