The opera ‘Aida’, familiar to us with its majestic melodies announcing victory, depicts the tragic love story between a captured Ethiopian princess and an Egyptian general set in ancient Egypt.
The role of Princess Aida is played by soprano Rim Sae-kyung.
She is a world-renowned soprano who has performed the role of Aida over 100 times.
[Rim Sae-kyung/Aida: “I think I have grown a lot by performing Aida in various theaters, and I am contemplating how to manage the technical aspects and the synergy with my fellow performers and the stage energy…”]
The stage features high-level arias that even top vocalists find challenging.
[Shin Sang-geun/Radames: “It’s a very challenging and quite difficult role for a tenor, and I am quite nervous about what kind of evaluation I will receive…”]
With over 200 cast members, the splendid stage and costumes transport the audience to ancient Egypt.
In the ‘Triumphal March’ scene, dancers showcase their dazzling choreography, and over 100 professional choir members sing with grand melodies.
[Park Hye-jin/Seoul Metropolitan Opera Director: “The massive choir, overwhelming group dances, and splendid costumes will allow everyone to feel the grandeur of the opera when they come.”]
The Seoul Metropolitan Opera’s performance, which aims to faithfully interpret the original work, will continue until this weekend.
