China's Cryptoqueen jailed in UK over $6.6B bitcoin fraud as Chinese police to testify in 1st co-op

A Chinese woman who defrauded more than 128,000 investors in China, converted the proceeds into cryptocurrency, and fled to Britain has been sentenced to 11 years and eight months in prison by a London court on Tuesday. The Met Police said the case marked “one of the most complex economic crime investigations ever”.

UK police seized 61,000 Bitcoin, worth $6.6 billion, in Britain’s largest-ever crypto recovery.

Zhimin Qian, also known as Yadi Zhang, 47, pleaded guilty to two offences of possessing and transferring criminal property.

Qian fled China in 2017 after scamming investors through her company, Lantian Gerui, and lived lavishly across Europe under fake identities. Her accomplice, Malaysian national Seng Hok Ling, received nearly five years in jail for helping move the funds.
