China: Hongqi Bridge Collapses In Sichuan Province | N18G

A section of a newly opened bridge in southwest China’s Sichuan province collapsed on November 11, according to local authorities. The incident occurred along a national highway connecting central China with Tibet. Officials said there were no reports of casualties. Police in Maerkang had already closed the 758-metre-long Hongqi Bridge to traffic a day earlier after cracks and ground movement were detected on nearby slopes and roads.
