Al Jazeera English Ex-French President Nicolas Sarkozy released from prison after serving 3 weeks
Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been released from prison after serving just three weeks of a five-year sentence for criminal conspiracy.
A court in Paris ruled he will be under judicial supervision pending an appeal against his conviction.
In September, Sarkozy was found guilty for his role in efforts to secure funding for his 2007 presidential campaign from late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
He was acquitted on separate charges of corruption and illegal campaign financing.
Al Jazeera’s Natacha Butler reports from outside the prison in Paris, France.
