ANI News Super Typhoon Fung-wong batters northern Philippines, killing two, forcing 2 million to evacuate

Homes in the northern Philippines were left severely damaged on Monday (November 10) morning after Super Typhoon Fung-wong made landfall a day earlier, killing at least two people and forcing over one million to evacuate.
In Santiago City of the northern province of Isabela, resident Romeo Mariano and his grandmother Filmomina said they had a sleepless night as the storm swept past the north of the archipelago’s most populous island Luzon late on Sunday (November 9). According to the Philippine weather bureau PAGASA, the storm carried torrential rain and sustained winds of 185 kph (115 mph) with gusts of up to 230 kph (140 mph). It has weakened after crossing the mountainous terrain of Luzon and is currently on the coastal waters of La Union Province, according to the latest weather bulletin. It was the 21st storm this year to hit a nation only just recovering from Typhoon Kalmaegi, which left 224 dead in the Philippines and five in Vietnam.
