BBC के डायरेक्टर जनरल टिम डेवी ने अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप की एक डॉक्यूमेंट्री में एडिटेड भाषण चलाने पर शुरू विवाद के बाद अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया है. साथ ही बीबीसी के न्यूज़ हेड डेबोरा टर्नस ने इन आरोपों के बाद इस्तीफा दे दिया कि एक डॉक्यूमेंट्री में ट्रंप के भाषण को इस तरह से एडिट किया गया था कि उससे गलत मैसेज जाए. इस खबर पर प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए, ट्रंप ने कहा कि भ्रष्ट पत्रकारों का पर्दाफाश हो गया है, इन्होने राष्ट्रपति चुनाव को बड़े पैमाने पर प्रभावित करने की कोशिश की. ये पूरा विवाद 6 जनवरी, 2021 को दिए गए ट्रंप के भाषण से जुड़े क्लिपों को लेकर उभरी है. इस भाषण को लेकर ट्रंप पर यूएस कैपिटल पर भीड़ के हमले को बढ़ावा देने का आरोप लगाया गया था. यह भीड़ फिर से चुनाव हारने के बावजूद उन्हें सत्ता में बनाए रखने की मांग कर रहे थे.

BBC Director General Tim Davie has resigned following a controversy over the airing of an edited speech by US President Donald Trump in a documentary. BBC News Head Deborah Turness also resigned amid allegations that Trump’s speech in the documentary was edited to send the wrong message. Responding to the news, Trump said that corrupt journalists had been exposed and that they had attempted to influence the presidential election on a large scale. The controversy stemmed from clips from Trump’s speech on January 6, 2021, in which Trump was accused of inciting a mob attack on the US Capitol, demanding his re-election despite his defeat.
