The Supreme Court issued a major order on Friday regarding the issue of stray dogs, ordering their removal from public places. Expressing concern over the increasing number of dog bites across the country, the court directed that state governments and union territories identify all government institutions, including district hospitals, public sports complexes, and railway stations, within two weeks and ensure that the premises are secured by erecting appropriate boundary walls to prevent the entry of stray dogs. This work is to be completed within eight weeks.
