Philippines declares state of emergency as Typhoon Kalmaegi death toll surpasses 110
The Philippines is under a state of calamity, after Typhoon Kalmaegi claimed more than 110 lives and left scores still missing. It’s the deadliest natural disaster to strike the country this year, leaving nearly two million people affected. Another typhoon is expected to hit in the coming days. Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos said, apart from organising relief efforts, preparations are now going full steam ahead for upcoming Typhoon Fung-Wong, which has the potential to be stronger than Kalmaegi.
