#GLOBALNEWS Protesters take aim at Shein as it opens 1st store in Paris

Protesters denounced Shein for it alleged use of forced labour, while also criticizing the company for policies they say hurts the environment and destroys jobs.

“We reject companies like Shein, which destroy jobs, the planet and the health of the French people – we don’t talk about it enough – but everything in these badly manufactured textiles impacts the health of French people,” said Marine Cazard, head of the Jeunes Horizons party.

The head of BHV department store defended the quality of items being sold in the new Shein location.

France also moved to ban Shein’s online marketplace on Wednesday after its consumer watchdog said weapons and childlike sex dolls were being sold on the site. Shein has since imposed a ban on sex dolls in its marketplace and suspended the “adult products” category.
