Bilaspur Train Crash: Cause Under Probe As NDRF Leads Massive Rescue Operation | ET Now
At least five people lost their lives and 14 others were injured after a passenger train collided with a goods train near Bilaspur railway station on Tuesday afternoon, officials said. Shocking visuals from the site showed a passenger coach perched atop a wagon of the goods train.
The collision occurred around 4 p.m. when a MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) passenger train traveling from Gevra in Korba district toward Bilaspur crashed into a goods train moving in the same direction between Gatora and Bilaspur stations. Bilaspur Collector Sanjay Agrawal confirmed five fatalities and said that rescue teams were working to free four more people still trapped in the wreckage.
