Growing emphasis on renewables but infrastructure and finance hurdles threaten COP climate goals
Ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil next week, analysts are looking to a landmark UAE Consensus made in COP28 which aimed to triple global renewable capacity and double energy efficiency by 2030. Questions have been raised over whether nations have been able to make any progress on these goals and if this year’s conference will move the needle on commitments for climate action. Adnan Amin, former CEO of COP28 and chairman at the World Energy Council, speaks to CNA’s Roland Lim at the sidelines of the ADIPEC energy summit in Abu Dhabi.
