On the first trading day after the APEC summit, the KOSPI has surpassed the 4,200 mark.
The so-called 110,000 Electronics and 600,000 Nix are leading the market surge.
This is a report by Song Su-jin.
[Report]
4,221.
The KOSPI has set a new all-time high.
It rose by 114 points, or 2.7%, compared to the previous trading day.
This is the largest increase in seven months since April.
It has been rising for four consecutive days since it first surpassed 4,000 on the 27th of last month.
Foreign investors sold, but individuals and institutions made a net purchase of 837 billion won, driving the upward trend.
Large tech stocks, including semiconductors, were hot.
The announcement that follow-up discussions on the Korea-U.S. tariff negotiations have been completed, along with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Korea, heightened expectations for expanded semiconductor and AI cooperation.
[Seo Sang-young/Mirae Asset Securities Researcher: “There were also some comments from Jensen Huang. Additionally, SK Hynix announced new products at the AI summit, which increased the market sentiment, leading to the rise.”]
Samsung Electronics recorded an all-time high of 110,000 won, and SK Hynix surged by 11%, becoming the so-called ‘600,000 Nix’.
The concentration on these two stocks is at an all-time high, with a combined market capitalization of 1,100 trillion won.
This accounts for 32% of the total market capitalization.
There are expectations that the U.S. Federal Reserve will start to inject money again, and the earnings announcements of major large tech stocks and the third amendment to the Commercial Act are also considered long-term positive factors.
However, there are analyses that more stocks have fallen than risen, and that the upward momentum is limited as some large stocks lead the market.
