20 years behind bars: Jimmy Lai sentenced in Hong Kong security trial
Apple Daily founder Jimmy Lai will spend the next 20 years in prison after the High Court of China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) sentenced the businessman for foreign collusion and sedition. Judges said the term reflects the seriousness of his conduct, while stopping short of life imprisonment. Several former Apple Daily employees and activists were also jailed in the closely-watched case.
